2009 AS Elections

ARE NOW OVER, RESULTS HERE

On the ballot this year:

  • Candidates for the 7 positions on the Associated Students Board of Directors

When to vote:

  • Voting starts 4/27/08 at 12:01 am
  • Voting ends 5/1/08 at 2:00pm

How to vote:

  • On MyWestern, under the "What's New" channel
  • Polling station in Red Square from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Friday.

Timeline

  • 3/2/2009
    -Filing period begins, candidate packets available in AS Board Office (VU 504)

    4/2/2009
    -Filing period closes, forms due to AS Board Office by 5:00 pm

    4/3/2009
    -Mandatory candidate meeting 5:30 pm in VU 462B (the press will be present to take publicity photos and collect statements from all candidates)

    4/4/2009
    -Campaigning period begins at 10:00 a.m

    4/13/2009
    -Election dates, polling hours, and polling location(s) are forwarded to AS Review, KUGS-FM, KVIK, the Western Front, and campus bulletin boards

    4/22/2009
    -AS Review Voter’s Pamphlets available in AS Board Office

    4/27/2009
    -First day of elections, voting starts at midnight
    -Polling station in Red Square open, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

    5/1/2009
    -Last day of elections, voting ends at 2:00 pm
    -Polling station in Red Square open, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
    -Candidates contacted after results have been verified, reminded to turn in financial statements
    -Unofficial results sent to Western Front, KUGS-FM, AS Review, KVIK, posted at AS Board Office
    -Candidates' financial statements due by 5:00 pm

    5/4/2009
    -Election Coordinator shall coordinate posting of the unofficial election results in all Residence Halls, in all glass (information) cases in the Viking Union, and on the AS website (www.as.wwu.edu) by 12:00 pm
    -All candidates’ campaign materials must be removed no later than 10:00 am, or the $25 posting deposit will not be refunded

    5/6/2009
    -Election Board Chair and Elections Coordinator shall report the unofficial election results to the ASWWU Board of Directors at their 6:00 meeting
    -Last day to hold run-off election (in the event one is needed)

    5/22/2009
    -If no action has been taken by the AS Board, election results will become official today
