ACADEMIC AFFAIRS COUNCIL

(2 at-large students & 4 at-large students also appointed to other committees by the VP for Academic Affairs. Meets bi-weekly for an hour & hosts 3 outreach events per year.)

Shall support student involvement in academic matters throughout campus by creating an outlet for students to discuss academic issues and concerns. Serves as an advisory council to the AS Vice President for Academic Affairs. (ASVP.Academics@wwu.edu, 650-2941, MS-9106)

ACTIVITIES COUNCIL

(1 at-large & 5 AS club reps. Meets weekly, typically on Mondays for 1-2 hours.)

Recognize Associated Students Clubs and establish policies and grant funding to a wide range of campus activities, events and conferences. Reports to the AS Board of Directors. (ASVP.Activities@wwu.edu, 650-3463, MS-9106)

AS ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION FEE COMMITTEE

(1 at-large. Meets at least once a quarter.)

Shall manage the operations and finances of the Western Student Transportation program. This committee is also charged to evaluate the Western Student Transportation program, review student input, identify issues, and recommend changes in the fee as well as the program as a whole. AS BOOKSTORE ADVISORY GROUP

(1 at-large & 2 Student Senators. Approx 3 hours a quarter.)

Shall review and discuss store policies, services, and operations. Make suggestions regarding effective marketing and promotional messages that emphasize the benefits of the store as a campus resource and revenue source for student programs. (ASVP.Gov@wwu.edu, 650-3736, MS 9106)

AS BUDGET COMMITTEE

(3-5 at-large. Biweekly meetings winter quarter and weekly meetings during spring quarter.)

Reviews the budget proposals of the AS organizations and activities. Establishes the operating budget for the next fiscal year. Responsible for presenting the proposed AS budget to the AS Board of Directors by the final meeting of the year for approval. (ASVP.BusOps@wwu.edu, 650-2941, MS-9106)

AS ELECTION BOARD

(6 at-large students, no more than two from any one organization or club. Training and grievance hearings as needed during spring quarter.)

Makes decisions concerning the fairness of AS Election proceedings through hearings regarding candidate grievances. Judgments are made according to the rules and regulations outlined in the AS Election Code. Reports findings to the AS Board of Directors. (ASVP.Gov@wwu.edu, 650-3736, MS-9106)

AS ELECTION CODE REVIEW COMMITTEE

(3-5 at-large. Meets weekly late November to February. Approx time 10-20 hours.)

To review and recommend changes to the AS Election Code in order to simplify and clarify the Code and the AS Election process. To encourage more professional campaigns, greater voter turnout, and increase participation in the election process. Reports to the AS Board. (ASVP.Gov@wwu.edu, 650-3736, MS-9106)

AS ETHNIC STUDENT CENTER STEERING COMMITTEE

(One rep from each ESC Club. Meets weekly for an hour.)

Shall set policies and procedures for the Ethnic Student Center and maintain the mission of the organization, serve as the facilitator for the disbursement of programming funds, and ratify new Ethnic Student Center clubs. AS FACILITIES AND SERVICES COUNCIL

(2 at-large and 1 Student Senator. Meets once or twice a month for an hour.)

Deals with the Associated Students' various services and facilities (Food Services, Lakewood, Viqueen Lodge, etc.). Reports to the AS Board of Directors. (ASVP.Busops@wwu.edu, 650-2941, MS-9106)

AS LEGISLATIVE ACTION FUND COMMITTEE

(4 at-large & 2 students from Student Senate or Legislative Affairs Council. Meets bi-weekly, for 1-2 hours.)

To create budgets for the Legislative Action Fund, review funding proposals and to ensure Western students are well represented on the state, federal, and local levels of government. (ASVP.Gov@wwu.edu, 650-3736, MS-9106)

AS LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS COUNCIL

(6 at-large & 1 Student Senator. Meets weekly, typically Tuesdays for 1-2 hours.)

To increase student involvement and to formulate positions and policies of the AS relating to legislative activities, national affairs, and external affairs. Reports to the AS Board. (ASVP.Gov@wwu.edu, 650-3736, MS-9106)

AS PROMOTIONS COMMITTEE

(1-3 at-large. Meets monthly for an hour)

Develop a promotional campaign for the entire AS, advise the individual AS offices on marketing plans to facilitate consistent promotional efforts. Make recommendations to the AS Board regarding publicity and marketing, and fund AS promotional tools. (ASVP.Activities@wwu.edu, 650-3463, MS-9106)

AS STRUCTURE AND PROGRAM ADVISORY COMMITTEE

(1 AS Employee, 1 Student Senator, and 5 at-large. Typically meets bi-weekly in fall & spring and weekly in winter.)

Will act as an advisory committee to the AS Board of Directors, making recommendations regarding structure, policies, and procedures as well as carrying out the implementation of the Triennial Assessment Program (TAP). (ASVP.Busops@wwu.edu, 650-2941, MS-9106)

AS STUDENT SENATE

(8 at-large & 4 Students by year, 1 Graduate student. Meets weekly, typically on Tuesdays for 1-2 hours.)

Makes recommendations to the AS Board of Directors based on student input and issues. The Student Senate will provide student input on issues presented to the Board but will not advise on personnel issues or policies. Reports to the AS Senate Chair. (AS.Student.Senate@wwu.edu, 650-6455, MS-9106)

AS STUDENT TRUSTEE SELECTION COMMITTEE

(3 at-large, at least one from the Board. Meets for selection process only in spring.)

Recommends 3 Student Trustee Candidates to the Board of Directors who pass it on to the Governor of Washington for approval. (AS.President@wwu.edu, 650-3265, MS-9106)

AS TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE

(4 at-large & 1 Student Senator, 1 RHA rep, meets weekly for an hour.)

To increase student involvement in the development, revision of ideas, and promotion of the all-campus transportation pass program for Western. Committee also monitors all legislation concerning transportation and the possible effects it may have on the Western community. Reports to the AS Board of Directors.
