Billy Goat Climbing Club

The overall goal of the Billy Goat Climbing Club is to connect WWU students who hold similar interests in the recreational activities of rock climbing, bouldering, ice climbing, and alpine climbing/mountaineering. The name Billy Goat Club (BGC) is chosen due to the nature of the Billy Goat. These alpine animals travel and live comfortably at high altitude rugged terrain, and as a community or herd support one another. The BGC remains true to the name by creating a community or support network to introduce WWU students to others who share a passion for climbing. Similar to Billy Goats, climbers ten to travel in a herd because a climber generally needs a climbing partner to safely and successfully complete a climb. The BGC’s intent to is to act as a hub and create a network of new students to meet fellow climbers and also assist students who are newly introduced into the recreation of climbing by supplying mentors. The BGC will not be responsible for personal climbing trips the members partake in; however, the BGC will create the support needed to gain introductions and friendships for those who do seek climbing partners or information on climbing in the local area.
