Based on the life of eccentric comedian Andy Kaufman, "Man on the Moon" enlists Jim Carrey to fill the funnyman's shoes. By exploring Kaufman's personal relationships and his time off of the stage, juxtaposed with his comedic routines, "Man on the Moon" paints a portrait of one of America's most unique performers, as well as his motivations, dreams and convictions. This film is a rare glimpse into the life of a rare human being.

Auction Block to Hip Hop

Event Image Auction Block to Hip Hop is a theatre production about a big Hip Hop mogul named Set Fo' Life. He is at a big award show where he wins awards for his hit record "Pimpin' ain't easy," and on that night he is visited by three ghosts who take him back to the time of his great great great grandfather and grandmother who are leading a slave revolt. He gets taken to the time when his mother and father fell in love as black panthers, and sees himself fall in love with his girlfriend at an anti-aparteid protest. He soon finds himself at a crossroads where he has to choose whether or not to buy into the system that degrades black women and perpetuates black stereotypes or choose to be on the outside and fight the power.

As their summer of passion continues, old lovers return and passions reignite. Like Allen's other movies, "Vicky, Christina, Barcelona" tests the bounds of relationships, and the people that engage in them without playing by the rules.

Event Image Amy Goodman is the host and executive producer of Democracy Now!, a national, daily, independent, award-winning news program airing on more than 800 TV and radio stations in North America. Time Magazine named Democracy Now! its "Pick of the Podcasts," along with NBC's Meet the Press.Goodman is the first journalist to receive the Right Livelihood Award, widely known as the 'Alternative Nobel Prize' for "developing an innovative model of truly independent grassroots political journalism that brings to millions of people the alternative voices that are often excluded by the mainstream media." She is also one of the the first recipients, along with Salon.com blogger Glenn Greenwald, of the Park Center for Independent Media's Izzy Award, named for the great muckraking journalist I.F. Stone.
