Faq:
What does a resolution do exactly?
When an issue or concern is brought to the Senate, the Senators discuss the issue and, if appropriate, draft a resolution. If a resolution is passed, we issue a formal recommendation to the AS Board of Directors. The resolution is then added to their agenda for further discussion and consideration. In our resolutions, we make sure to consider student views and impacts on students. The Senate has been a resource which the A.S. and the university administration alike have turned to for guidence and student input.

What powers does the Senate have?
The Senate advises the Board of Directors and can make formal recommendations to the board. If the Senate issues a formal recommendation, the item is then included in their following agenda and will be put to further consideration. The Senate has, in the past and currently, worked on resolutions that impacted the University greatly, including advising the University on the split of the College of Arts and Sciences (into two separate Colleges now).
